when she sings “and i wanted to impress you” my heart splits, it’s so earnest and honest and i’ve felt that way so often. it’s an impossible feeling sometimes.
*i’ve listened to this about a dozen times now and i kept feeling a familiarity beyond just really loving that line and once i stopped listening to it i figured it out. there’s a line in my favorite daniel johnston song “love not dead” where he sings “i really tried to play the game of love” and that’s what it reminds me of.
